KUMASI: NOTORIOUS GANG THAT TARGETS BANK CUSTOMER'S AND BREAK INTO CARS BUSTED.

KUMASI: NOTORIOUS GANG THAT TARGETS BANK CUSTOMER'S AND BREAK INTO CARS BUSTED.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested five suspected criminals in Kumasi for allegedly breaking into vehicles to steal money, mainly from people who had just withdrawn cash from banks. The police believe these suspects are part of a group that has been operating in different parts of the Kumasi Metropolis for some time.

According to the police, the gang is noted for targeting individuals who visit banks to withdraw money. After identifying their victims, they secretly trail them, patiently waiting for an opportunity to break into their parked vehicles to steal the money, especially when the victims are distracted or away from their cars.

The arrests were made at different locations within Kumasi after weeks of police surveillance and intelligence-led operations. During these operations, items believed to be tools used for breaking into vehicles were retrieved from the suspects.

The police suspect that the five individuals are connected to several cases where people reported losing large sums of money from their vehicles, particularly after visiting banks in Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command says investigations are still ongoing. They are working to gather more evidence, identify other possible members of the group, and recover stolen money or items.

Meanwhile, the police have advised residents, especially those withdrawing large sums of money from banks, to be extra cautious. They urged the public to avoid leaving money or valuables unattended in vehicles and to report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.

The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and will soon be arraigned before court to face charges related to their alleged involvement in the thefts.
